Every member of our Symbian OS engineering team is an Accredited Symbian Developer, and we generally prefer to recruit from the ASD pool.

Technical Consulting Salesperson

Symsource works with a variety of clients from network operators and OEMs, to creative agencies and established consumer brands pushing into mobile for the first time. Being one of the few mobile development studios to truly address all platforms (iPhone, Symbian, Android, BlackBerry, J2ME, Windows Mobile) with our in house team, Symsource is well placed to ride on the mobile apps wave. Together with our reputation for having the best consultant engineers in the industry, Symsource now needs to grow its sales team to ensure we don't miss a single opportunity.

Our sales team's technical background means we often begin consulting for our clients before we've truly engaged, getting them hooked to our incomparably deep knowledge. The successful candidate may bring more of that same successful formula to the table. But equally we will consider applicants who think they can bring something new and different to the way we approach sales.

Most importantly, Symsource is seeking energetic and confident individuals to carry our flag and join in pitching our services.

Required skills and experience:

  • At least 3 years in the mobile phone industry
  • Knowledge of Symbian, iPhone, Android and BlackBerry technical capabilities
  • Honours degree
  • Preparation of sales pitches and formal quotations
  • Customer relationship management skills
  • Excellent written english and presentations skills

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Rough project sizing/estimation
  • Software development processes and best practice

Personal disposition:

  • Comfortable in a fast changing environment
  • Initiative taker able to work independently if necessary
  • Willing to take on tasks outside their comfort zone from time to time

Mobile Applications C++ Software Engineer (2 positions available)

At Symsource we recognise that even open mobile phones are ultimately primarily about personal communications, and that communications can be about more than just phone calls and web browsing.

Symsource is seeking enthusiastic and creative individuals to work on a number of exciting and innovative applications of mobile phone technology.

Required skills and experience:
  • At least 2 to 3 years postgraduate C++ experience in a commercial environment
  • Knowledge of Symbian OS, Windows Mobile, mobile Linux or iPhone
  • Honours degree in engineering or related subject
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
Desirable skills and experience:
  • J2ME, BlackBerry or Android development using Java
  • Strong computer science fundamentals especially algorithms and compiler theory
  • Software development processes and best practice
  • Understanding of "value" and "quality" in context of software design
Personal disposition:
  • Positive demeanour, happy communicating with commercial customers
  • Comfortable in a fast changing environment
  • Initiative taker able to work independently if necessary
  • Willing to take on tasks outside their comfort zone from time to time
  • Personal interest in mobile technology and stays updated on latest industry developments in own time
